Of course, Marnie is just a beautiful soul so she made? my job so easy.? You can catch up with her at Yoga Way in Wappingers as well at the Pleasures of Pregnancy Workshop at Waddle n Swaddle in Poughkeepsie.

Over The River, And Through The Woods…

This past weekend I was invited back to see little “S” and his sweet little sister.? I first met this family about 2 years ago when “S” was just a baby himself, and now he is a great big brother.? Sister has fire red hair that goes great with her all smiles personality.? She was a natural behind the camera and totally worked it.?? This family has a beautiful home located on a lake, not to far from the Gunks.? Originally the forecast called for a hurricane watch, I think we made out just great!

ALEX?S LEMONADE STAND FOUNDATION …

In an effort to join the battle against childhood cancer, the BabyMine Playgroup will host an Alex?s Lemonade Stand at Stop & Shop on Saturday, July 25th, from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM, on South Road, Poughkeepsie, New York. BabyMine Playgroup is a Moms Meetup with more than 150 members devoted to parenting, supporting each other, and showing children the importance of bettering our community. The members of BabyMine Playgroup decided that Alex’s Lemonade Stand provided the perfect fit as the members have the opportunity to help a cause and make a difference in the lives of children who are diagnosed with pediatric cancer.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra ?Alex? Scott (1996-2004). At the age of 4, Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of volunteers across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex?s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity,20has raised more than $25 million towards fulfilling Alex?s dream of finding a cure, funding over 100 research projects nationally.

Dundalk…

I sometimes refer to the days in which I worked in the field in which I went to school for, as my “former life.”? In my former life, I was an Exercise Physiologist and I did my intern in Cardiopulmonary Rehab at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.? I lived in a small down called “Dundalk,” just outside of Baltimore. I truly enjoyed my time there and felt like I was going home when we recently returned there as part of our family vacation.

If you are looking for a great family vacation close to NY, the Inner Harbor is a great place to start.? Whether you are a football/baseball fan? or not, you have two great parks at your fingertips.? Camden Yards is one of the most beautiful ballparks around and you can get tickets as low at $8. You can’t do that in NY or Boston.? Of course, our trip was planned around the Red Sox visit to Baltimore in a 3 game series.

I have to say, people in Baltimore are SOOOO nice, too nice really.? Kind of strange compared to New York and New England areas. It didn’t matter where you were, or what you were doing, everyone was just nice. And that was nice :) When we arrived to Camden, we were asked if this was Brayden and Kieran’s? first game to Camden Yards, in which they presented us with a nice certificates for each kid to commemorate their first game.

Later on I took Brayden for a little walk closer to the Bullpen area in which John Lester was warming up.? Not trying to be a “taddle tail,” but I caught a kid, with my camera, spitting off the bleachers and turned him into security. In return, security let me go down in the pass restricted area to get some shots of Lester warming up.? I was like a gitty little girl being 5 feet away from one of the best pitchers in baseball.? Not only that, he is a survivor of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. And for those of you how don’t know, I lost my brother to cancer about 2.5 year ago at the young age of 36.? To me, Lester is a hero. Not only did he beat it, he is back and better than ever.

After I snapped about 100 shots of Lester warming up, Brayden and I headed back to the area where the Orioles were filming their pre-game show.? There he got an autograph from Rick Dempsey,? 83′? World Series MVP. As much as we love to brag about our kids, mine made NESN.? During the last couple innings of Monday’s game, we got phone calls from both grandparents that Kieran was on NESN and noted as the “Future” of Red Sox Nation.

I do have to say, although we were at a “historic” game for Orioles fans, for me I had two prized memories from this day: 1) My hubby caught a home run ball from JD Drew in batting practice and 2) my boys feel asleep on me after a 2 hour rain delay.

The next day we spent the day at one to the best places for kids and fellow DINOSAUR lovers, the Maryland Science Center At Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.? This was such a great museum for kids in the fact that it was so interactive.? If they wanted to climb on Dino bones, they could.? Across from the Science Center is the National Aquarium which featured dolphin shoes and the “Jellies.”

Our last day in the Inner Harbor was spent shopping and enjoying the sites.? Brayden was promised a trip on the “Dragon Boats,” so that is what we did.? Of course, as quickly as the blue skies were there, the gray clouds came in.

All The Little Pieces…

One of my favorite parts about shooting newborns, is getting all their little parts.? Our babies grow up so fast,? so I want to help my clients remember how precious their babies 10 little toes are.? A great example of how fast time goes by, I originally shot big brother “L” when he was about 6 weeks old, and then again when he turned 1.? Now, it is a year later and he is a great big brother!? By the way, check out the blue eyes on that little man.

Virginia…

Our next stop on our vacation included a short stay with some friends of ours that relocated to VA a couple years back from Poughkeepsie.? Brayden and their oldest were born about 6 months apart, and the best of buds before they moved. ? I knew it would be so much fun to have ALL of our boys together again, a bunch of blond, blue eyed boys. Watch out ladies :) The best part about kids, they totally pick up where they left off. It was like they saw each other yesterday.

Of course, the best way I could think to thank them for their hospitality was to do a mini shoot of their boys.? Thanks again!
