Project 52- Week 2

I know, 2 photos in a week, but  I am a tad behind my photog peers so I am now playing catch up.  Today I had coffee with a couple of friends over in Poughkeepsie so I thought I would swing down by the Hudson River to check out the ice. Just happened to have my camera in the car ;)

New E-Album…

Introducing a great new line of engagement albums available though Surprise Photography.  These flush mount albums pages are are printed on  Art Watercolor paper and adhered to heavy black cardstock.  This allows each spread to lay flat with a thick and rigid look and feel. Pages are printed as full spreads and not cut so imagery and design elements are not lost in the center of the book!  Each book is sized 8×8 and includes a custom photo cover.   They are safe to write on and make a great signature album and true keepsake for any wedding. Albums are included with some of our wedding packages, but available a la carte.

Look closely so that you can see the Art Linen texture.

Project 52…

What is “Project 52?”  Last April, I met a wonderful group of gals in Atlanta.  We have continued a great relationship after our workshop and talk on a daily basis.  We are always looking for ways to challenge ourselves and keep our photography fresh.  One girl introduced us to a great way to step out side the box, Project 52.  I new, non work related, photo project a week, for 52 weeks.  Many of you may have heard of  Project 365, where you publish a photo for 365 days of the year, but lets be realistic here, with 2 kids, that is pushing it LOL!  So Project 52 is a bit more of my speed.

For my first photo, I played with my new iPhone and my favorite Brayden.  In natural light, the iPhone can take a really good picture.  In fact, there is a photog out there who published a book on pictures he took just with his iPhone. The challenge her was getting my 4 year old to hold my iPhone right where I wanted him too. It didn’t happen, he moved every time :)

Check back every week for a new photo.

8 Degrees…

That was the temperature out this weekend when I met up with this family of 5.   The older 2 kids were rock stars!  Especially Miss “M,”  she was a true trooper for our 5 minute shoot outside. She even tagged on for brothers turn.  It was a tad to cold to get a family photo outside, we didn’t want to freeze the baby, so we will try again when the heat wave comes this weekend.  We are expecting the 40s!

Mike and Priscilla’s Wedding- Boston, MA

When I was asked to shoot a wedding up in Boston on New Year’s Day, there was no twisting my arm.  I am a New Englander at heart and Fenway Park is one of my favorite places in the world, about 3 steps below Maui ;)    Mike is my husbands fraternity brother and we have gotten to know Priscilla from several weddings that we have all attended over the years.  It is always great to see them and I was super honored when they asked me to photograph their wedding.  And talk about planning long distance, this couple, as well as the brides family,  live in Kansas.  It was great to see the amount of friends and family that came out to celebrate this wedding.  Their family was even gracious enough to invite hubby and I to the New Years celebrate in honor of Mike and Priscilla.

Down to the details.  This wedding was full of special and unique touches that gave made this wedding extra special.  The bride is a self proclaimed “argyle freak.” She sported a nice yellow pair of yellow socks during prep, while she gifted all the men with their own pair for the wedding.  The brides gift was a pair of earrings that were a replica of her wedding band, while the groom’s gift was a pair of cufflinks made of seats from Fenway park.   At the reception, all tables numbers were images from weddings that they had attended in the past. So many more details, too little time :)   One major detail, it was COLD!!!

The DJ surely got the party started and kept it going all night long.  My favorite part of the evening is when he had about 50 people on the dance floor doing the jig to the Dropkick Murphy’s, I’m shipping Up To Boston.  A dance made famous by Johnathan Papelbon during the 2007 ACLS series.  Only in Beantown!

“I’m Shipping Up To Boston” by the  Dropkick Murphys was the dance of the night

Happy New Year…

There’s nothing like starting off the New Year with a wedding.  Congratulations to Mike and Priscilla who were married at Foster’s Pavilion in the Boston Harbor.

More pictures to come….
