Back In Action…

This is my first weekend back shooting. I have had a lot of people tell me they were amazed I was back in it so quickly.  I do have to mention, besides one newborn, my last shoot was at the end of July.  I took the month of August off thinking I was going to have the baby in the beginning of the month, and I would have plenty of time to chill with my boys before I got back to work.  Boy was I wrong!

Three weeks post baby and I couldn’t have asked for a better first client than the sweetie pie I photographed this Sunday.  As soon as she came out of the car, she was smiling with with her big brown eyes.  She was in just a super fantastic mood and just hammed it up for me.  Of course,  I can’t think of a better way of ending a shot on an orchard than with some fresh cider and donuts, yum!

Love those lashes!

New Product, Image Folio…

I have been looking into some great new products to include with my product line.  I have some great samples that I am dying to show off, but first I am going to show you you this great image folio, a modern way to put your images on display.   This folio is not only great for my clients, but they would make great gifts for new grandparents or the parents of the bride and groom. Image folios include a custom photographic cover and are complete with two image panels on the inside left and right.   I saw this and I had to whip up a sample for my studio, my Clinton being the featured model of course.

Baby Clinton…

Normally a newborn shoot takes anywhere from 2-3 hours, depending on the baby.  This shoot lasted several hours over 2 days.  Lucky for me, it was my baby and the shoot was at my house.  I will admit, it wasn’t all baby.  Recovery on your body post baby always varies.  I was pregnant a lot longer this time around, so between baby and I, there were a lot of breaks.    Timing with light is everything when shooting,  so while giving my back a rest, the lighting in my house changed.   By the time the older boys were ready to shoot with their brother, the lightening was off and we had to wait until the next day.  Shooting 3 kids together by myself, not an easy task.

When ever I work with a client who’s baby has an older sibling, I discuss the fact that I can never guarantee a the much desired “sibling shot.”  The older sibling can be completely hit or miss, mostly based on age, and their willingness to  be photographed with the new baby.  Well, the same can be said for this photographer’s children.  As much as Kieran loves to hug, kiss and hold the baby, he did NOT want to be photographed with him by himself, no matter the bribery.  I love bribery by the way.   He did however, take a picture with both of his brothers.  It took a good 15-20 minutes of convincing, but I finally got the shot.  Brayden on the other hand was great and cuddled in nice in close to his new baby brother.

It is bitter sweet knowing this will be the last newborn photographed in my home, but my family is now complete and Clinton is the perfect addition to our Surprise clan.
