Birthday Girl, Hudson Valley Child Photographer…

I was beginning to think that this session was cursed. I am never sick and this year when I got it, I got it good.  I had to cancel my first session with this birthday girl when after a week of a high temperature, I came down with a not so nice ear infection.  I would rather have the flu than an ear infection.   Then on the eve of the reschedule date, I was kissing my son goodnight on his top bunk and on the way down, I rolled my ankle.  I was convinced I twisted it.   The next morning I could barely walk down the stairs, I was in that much pain. Walking on flat ground was better, and knowing that it  was this little sweeties first birthday photos, putting it off again wasn’t an option. I knew I could rock on through it, as long as she wasn’t on the run.  Lucky for me she wasn’t that mobile.  My first major in college was “Athletic Training,” and the first thing we learned was R.I.C.E:  Rest, Ice, Compress and Elevate, which is what I did when I got home.   Turns out taping football player ankles wasn’t for me and I switched majors :)

Well, this birthday girl did great considering the cooler weather and the fresh dose of snow. Interesting fact about our location, this small church, St Peter’s Episcopal Church in Millbrook, was the location of Natasha Richardson’s funeral.  A small but stunning Church.

Happy Holidays…

Baby Grayson, Dutchess County Newborn Photographer…

I have been documenting the welcoming of this little boy since he was in the womb.  I photographed him in the the hospital on Thanksgiving morning, just hours after being born.   Now it was time for his newborn shoot.  I do have to admit, I am a little jealous of this little guy, he has a flat screen TV in his room. I think I was 13 before I got a TV in my room.  And like I previously mentioned, this little guy is SOOOOOO loved by his mommy and daddy.  They can’t take their eyes off of him, so sweet.  I truly enjoyed following this little guys entrance into the world.  I hope to see him again when he turns one.

Horses And Hounds, Ulster County Maternity Photographer…

I was beginning to think this session was never going to happen. First, momma to be was sick for an extended period of time, then I was sick for a period of time.  Finally we were able to meet between sicknesses, for momma’s maternity shoot.  I had a slight fear that being so close to her due date and with the constant rescheduling, that we would miss the opportunity to meet before the baby was born.  One thing I was sure of, was that we would have a beautiful place to shoot.  My dear friend owns Brookside Farm right down the street, so I knew pulling up to Horses and Hounds Stables, there would be endless opportunity for beautiful shots.  Yes, it was a tad bit chilly that day, but I had a wonderful afternoon with mommy and big sis to be.  I can’t wait to meet baby!

Bros…

Boys will be boys: high energy, lively, playful, and a wee bit camera shy.  That is how I live my life everyday, minus the camera shy part. A couple weeks back I met with these two little dudes for  a little urban fun.  We had a couple touches of snow before we met, but it stopped before we shot.  Gotta give mom props for bringing the fun “props.”

Mommy’s can never get enough snuggles from their boys
