Boudoir, Hudson Valley Boudoir Photographer…

A couple of years ago, I did a meet up with bunch of photog friends from across the country, at  Kristen Kalps studio  in Philadelphia, PA.  There I got my first peek at Kylene Cleaver working her boudoir magic.  Over the past 2 years I watched her, through the wonderful world of the internet,  expand and grow to be one of the best boudoir photographers I have ever seen.  Her stuff is is classy, tasteful and just simply beautiful.  On a recent blog post she mentioned she was now offering “Mentoring.”  Ummmm, all over that!!  I am the type of person, if I am going to learn, I am going to learn from the best and that she is.

So this past weekend I hoped in the car and took a one day trip to Philly. Lucky for me, I had a mentoring session to me, myself and I.  We had some beautiful and brave models, who dealt with some frigid weather conditions. The black winged angel was a true trooper, being outside in her undies, in 35 degree weather and a wind chill that made it feel like 10.  Art is painful sometimes.

I am so excited to be offering boudoir as apart of the Surprise Photography experience.   More details to come!

Live Love Learn, The Donation…

It has been almost 2 months since Live Love Learn and I am proud to announce that this past Thursday, our group of fabulous ladies presented a check to the American Heart Association for $5182.00.  Yeah, how awesome is that, double of last year!!  I want to thank everyone who came out not only for the event but for the boudoir and Little Love Mini sessions as well, that was a nice added bonus to our check!

So next year, be sure to watch out as hopefully we are able to double this donation!

Extra special thanks to Cosimo’s for the wonderful food, Essence Photography for the wonderful photos and the DJ Solution for the great entertainment!

Lauren & Scott-Engagement, New York Wedding Photographer…

I always talk about how much I love my clients, especially when they spread the love and refer me to friends and family.  I can’t thank them enough for it.  Lauren and Scott were one of those fabulous couples referred to me, by some of my favorite clients, to photograph their August wedding.  This past weekend we met up for the first time in Brooklyn for their engagement shoot.  They sent me an email to meet them at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, ice cream…yay!!  Yes, I know it is still a bit chilly for ice cream but never for me.  I couldn’t have asked for a better day, better location, a bluer sky, or a better couple to work with.  Oh, I can’t forget the red door, you know me and doors. I SPY them from a mile away.

The next stop of our tour is in New Jersey, were they will be getting married.  I don’t want to rush time, but I really look forward to seeing them again this summer.  BTW, I never went back for my ice cream.  I did however spend 90 minutes  in line for a Grimaldi’s Pizza.

Mother’s Day Mini Sessions Are Back, Hudson Valley Child Photographer

Enjoying Some Down Time, Hudson Valley Child Photographer…

Over the past couple weeks you might have noticed a lack of session postings from me.  Don’t worry, all is good.  Normally my holiday season is so insane I take, the month of December off to focus on getting orders out and recover from October and November.  Last year it didn’t work out that way.  I took about 2 months off  during the summer, around the time Clinton was born and last winter was the busiest winters I have ever had. Not only with maternity and newborns, including one on Christmas Day, but I was also  honored to work with some awesome out of state clients that had flown north for the holidays.

January was an awesome month in which we focused a lot of time on the Live Love Learn event and raising money for the American Heart Association.  There is nothing like the feeling of giving back for a cause you completely believe in. February was an awesome month of meeting new people and shooting in some super fabulous places.  After non stop working since Clinton was born, I decided to gave myself a couple weeks off in March, and it was awesome.  I caught up on work, life and enjoying the small things.  One of my favorite things has become baking with my boys.  They love eating the batter, and why not, it taste great.  I let my husband sleep in on the weekends.  He does an awesome job with the boys in the mornings during the week, I let him get a couple extra “ZZZ’s” Saturday and Sunday.  We never have a full Saturday together so we took advantage of those by going on a couple day trips.

I have to admit, I enjoyed some “ME” time as well. As a mom of three, who runs a household and a business, “me” time is very limited.  Imeet up with about 25 of some of the best photographers in the Hudson Valley, I  enjoyed a very RARE parents night out, and even a couple girls night out here and there.

I constantly get asked by friends and other photographers, “How do you do it with 3 kids?”  Late nights, long hours and not much sleep.  My house is a wreck, but with 3 boys, when will it not be LOL!   Now and then you need to give yourself a little down time to just breath and enjoy life.

We have a VERY busy schedule here for the rest of the year.  We are very excited with some of our new ventures we are working on as well as our summer project.  Thank you for being apart of the Surprise Photography family and we appreciate your support more than you know!
