City Folk In The Country, Ulster County Children’s Portrait Photographer…

Last weekend I had the pleasure of meeting up with this little beauty and her parents.  Daddy is originally from the area, but  they currently live down in the city.  I was honored that they included some time with me on one of their visits home, to snap some family photos.  The day was a bit chilly and we occasional found warmth in the sun, but little miss blue eyes sure held up strong and made no fuss about being cold.   And lets talk about those BLUE EYES!!!  Oh my, how bright they were.

Thank you again “E” family for including me in your travel plans.  I look forward to doing it again..

West Point, Orange County Family Photographer…

Last week I had the privilege of not only meeting this very smart little boy and his parents, but visiting  the West Point Campus as well.  I shot here a month ago with a wedding, but I really didn’t get to take the time to really take it all in. When you come on to the grounds, it is an intimating experience.  There are guards at the gates and they check your car.  When you pull onto the campus, you can see big barriers that come out of the ground to block anyone from getting in or getting out.  Not sure I want to be around when that happens.  The buildings  are all this beautiful but cold gray stone. On the train going down to the city last week, a gentleman sitting next to me mentioned it looked like a prison.  When I mentioned this to my client, she laughed and said, “some of the cadets may agree.”  But when walking around, you also get this sense of peace.  We walked down by the reservoir and with the beauty around it, you forget where you are.

Back to “B” man.  I really enjoyed my time with this little man.  He is a year older than my son Brayden and so much like him.  They both seem to have this fascination for wildlife.  While hanging around the canons, saw this hawk flying above us. After some time on the hunt, he finally rested in a tree close by.  Later the hawk attacked his prey and just feasted on it in front of us.  “B” man was so amazed, and I have to admit I  kind of was too.  Only on TV have I seen such a thing so close to me.  Of course I went home and told Brayden all about it.    I had a lovely fall afternoon at West Point.  Thank you for inviting me down to spend the day with your family. And thank you “B” man for all the great stories.

Little Peanut…

I was beginning to think this shoot was never going to happen.  Our original session date got rained out, our 2nd date, rained out. On our third date, the skies were beyond blue, but the wind was so fierce we had to end early.  On our fourth date, it started to sprinkle as I pulled into the driveway of the farm.   The fourth time was the charm however, the skies were overcast but the rain held out and it was no where near as cold as it was the previous visit.  Little miss peanut got the attention of all the beautiful horses on the farm.  It was  amazing how they just flocked over to her.  And she was just as curious,  she couldn’t keep her eyes off of them.

Thank you again to the family for meeting  me (twice) and thank you to Ryancrest Farm’s for allowing us to come photograph on their beautiful land.

Return of Curly Sue…

This is the 3rd time I have photographed this super sweetie.  For those of you who have been to my studio lately, might recognize her from one of my studio samples.  One thing is a little bit different this time around, the curls are gone.  Sadly, she outgrew them. Not that it matters, she is still super cute anyway.   This visit was great in the fact it was completely different from our last. Our previous session was at a historic location, where on this day we hung out at her home, read some books and I got to meet her new kitty cat.

Thanks for a great morning “A” and thank you to mommy who spoiled my boys with great gifts.  The dino book and stamps were a GREAT hit in my house!

Over the River and Through The Woods…

This past weekend I met up with this beautiful family of four on the grounds of their family estate.   The grounds were just gorgeous, there was no questioning why mom and dad got married there 5 years ago.  Sometimes when at such a beautiful location, a photographers mind can go into creative overload.  You want to shoot everywhere, but of course you have to remember you have  work with the time frame of a child’s clock.  They rule when the shoot will start and when it will end.

Being that it was a bit chilly outside, we were lucky to have a nice indoor location to shoot as well, where we could  jump on some beds and play with some trains. My questions is, when can we do it again so we can hit up the other side of the yard? Thanks again!

Kieran…

Today my baby turns 3 years old.  He is the craziest and funniest little dude I know.  He is he life of the party and Mr. Adventure.  How we have not been to the emegency room yet, is beyond me. I love you little man, I hope you have a wonderful birthday!
