Devon and Mark, Hudson Valley Wedding Photographer…

Taking a look back to last fall, I met up with one of my fabulous couples for an engagement shoot.  It was a wonderful evening on the Hudson with amazing light.  We had some play time with their children, the furry and fluffy ones, and then off to the Walkway.  And lets talk about the shoes, I joked with Devon that she was going to blow the shoe photo up, poster size and hang it up over the bed.   The shoes were that FAB!!

I am so looking forward to their wedding this summer in Poughkeepsie.  See you two soon!

Surprise Photography, Best of 2010

Digging through my three different hard drives, I 1) can’t believe how fast this year went by and 2) feel so luck to have had such a wonderful year. Each year seems to get bigger and better, I hope this never ends. I am so lucky to have had such a wonderful group of clients to work with this year and thankful they you all spread the word about Surprise Photography. I would love to share some of my favorite images from this past year, so if you have a couple moments, grab your beverage and a small snack and enjoy the show:

Katrina and Luis, E-Shoot…

Whenever I go out to shoot, or am planning an up coming shoot, I love looking for fresh new grounds. I always have my eye out, scouting for future reference.  I do repeat shoots at fun locations, but once a spot becomes overused, I get bored and tend to avoid it like the plague.  Last weekend I met with Luis and Katrina, who came up from Yonkers, for their engagement shoot.  We met up in Beacon, a great place for an urban feel.  Now keep in mind, Beacon 2010 is a far different place than Beacon 2000.  Where you once avoided Main Street, it is now full of life featuring art, cafes, restaurants, antique shopping and even a Chocolate Bar.   Driving Katrina and Luis to the 2nd location, it amazed me how much they loved the area.  It then occurred to me, other people appreciate a change in pace and love to explore new places too.  What is old to me, is new to someone else.

See you two fun love birds in two months!

Denied!

Margaret & Scott-Engaged…

I was a lucky gal to spend the afternoon with a  super sweet, young couple in love.  I swear I could see little hearts in the specks of their eyes.  We were originally set to shoot at the Poughkeepsie Train station main entrance, but big orange barriers and construction put a stop to that.  Lucky for us,  there are many hip urban places to shoot in the area.  I really enjoyed the hour I spent with Margaret and Scott.  If they are glowing half as much on their wedding day as they were today, my job photographing their wedding will be super easy.  I am just bummed I have to wait another 7 months.

Fab New Album…

I don’t know who is more of my BFF, the UPS man or FedEx Man. Well, FedEx man came in first this week when he brought this beautiful treasure my way.? A fab new album from a recent couples shoot.? So loving it.

If you think this looks fab online, wait till you see it in person.

The Riley Factor…

Little miss has been a favorite subject of mine for a long time.? As much as I LOVE taking her photo, since she is an absolute doll, I thought today was a great day to focus on Mommy and Daddy.? We all love to decorate our home of our children, but we we tend to forget about ourselves.? When hubby and I were thinking about our trip to Maui, I thought it would be great, when we actually take the kids, to hire a photographer to do family photos.? Hubby goes, “Why not get pictures of us?”? Oh yeah, why not just us.? Mommy and Daddy were great sports as I dragged them around town and got to see how giddy I got over finding a very cool door.? :)

So the question is, what did Mommy and Daddy do with the rest of their free time? ;)
