Not sure I can call this Project 52 anymore. More like project 8. I give props to those who can keep up with Project 365, I am lucky to know what day it is sometimes. This weekend I treated myself to a trip to Mohonk Mountain House. If you live in the Hudson Valley, you know what a treasure this place is. If you have never been here, I would get yourself up there, even if just for an afternoon of hiking. I have been here several times for weddings, but this time I came for myself. With my macro in hand, I had some fun in the gardens. Don’t ask me the flower’s name, I have a black thumb.

This Mother’s Day, my darling hubby surprised the boys and I with a trip to NYC. He got us tickets to the King Tut Exhibit at the Discovery Times Square Exposition, a must see! Unfortunately, no cameras allowed inside. On the outside however, that is a different story. Those who follow me or have worked with me know how much I love shooting on location, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE texture. I am always looking for a shooting back drop that provides great texture, whether it be brick, stone, cement, etc. NYC is a big backdrop of texture. On our long walk to dinner, this wall just stuck out to me because the variety of texture. I would love to start shooting children and couples more often in the city one day, just endless possibilities.

This past weekend some friends and I got together for a workshop/reunion at a lake house just north of Nashville. We had one afternoon of crazy weather in which it was full sun for an hour and then storms moved in that had us thinking a tornado was coming. An hour later, the sun was out. An hour after that, major storms. This went on until about 6 o’clock in the evening. Finally, the skies opened up and the clouds disappeared for good. After a long day stuck in side, my friend Wiff took us out on the lake for a ride on her boat. In the time we were on the boat, we enjoyed the sun set and touches of orange sky. My friend Ann was standing at the front of the boat when I snapped this silhouette of her in action.

I have a ton of great Lake pictures to share with you all. First I need to catch up on 4 days away so be sure to check back for more in the next day or two!

With the craziness of moving to a new studio, I have feel back on Project 52. One of our latest assignments was to shoot what you want. The Easter Bunny was kind enough to bring the boys endless hours of joy in the shape of a bubble machine. So after a long car ride back from New England, what a better way to unwind and enjoy the Spring air, then to break out the bubble machine. I was snapping some pictures of the boys enjoying themselves and thought to myself, why not try to snap a picture of a bubble. Trying to capture a photo of a bubble is almost as hard as trying to get a 2 year old to stay still. Every bubble I seemed to get focus on, my boys seemed to run over and pop it.

Of the few that I captured before becoming victim of the Surprise boys, was this photo. What I love about this picture, is that I can see the reflection of my house and my neighbors in the bubble.

One of the coolest photos I grabbed was this one of the bubble actually bursting:

After two weeks of straight travel, it is time for a little catch up with Project 52. This weeks assignment was food. Now, I never really had a thing for cupcakes until my 2nd pregnancy. For the first 3 months I felt awful and didn’t want to eat a thing. Finally after weeks of feeling nauseous, I was hungry and all I wanted was a cupcake. It wasn’t any cupcake, it had to be a white cupcake with green or pink frosting. When I relayed that message to my husband, you could here the “where am I going to find one of those” sounds over the phone. But he pulled through and come home with one of the biggest cupcakes I have ever seen, good hubby. Recently I discovered the deliciousness of Red Velvet Cupcakes, I am not sure if this is a good or bad thing. And now Starbucks carries them! I can get my fancy mocha and fancy cupcake in one stop, SCORE!

Warning: if you are on a diet, do not look down!

I was trying to kill 2 birds with one stone with this photo. One, my Project 52 assignment of “Details” and 2, my son’s Valentine’s picture. Last year we did the lollipops, this year I wanted to do something different. I thought well, I could have him hold a cut out heart, nah. Then it occurred to me, why not paint a heart in his hand. I always tell Brayden he is my heart, this time he is holding it. The biggest challenge of this photo was trying to get a 4 year old to stay still for 2 minutes so I could paint a heart in his hand.
