Project 52, Shoot From The Hip…

This wasn’t as easy of a challenge as I expected.  The goal was to get a great shot from doing just as the title says, shooting from the hip, no peeking through the view finder.  On many occasions, I aim from above or shoot from below.  I have had some great shots in the past, but for this challenge, I just wasn’t getting what I was looking for, until today.  Yesterday I had the boys running around with just sweat shirts on, today we woke up to 4 inches of snow.  So our favorite neighbors came over to go sledding in our yard.

Here are a couple cute shots I got of Brayden and his best buddy as they were getting ready to go down the hill.  The ground was very slick, so to make sure I didn’t fall, I had to have one hand on the ground and the other with the camera stretched across my body, in front of the boys.  I am very happy with the outcome.

Project 52- Week 2

I know, 2 photos in a week, but  I am a tad behind my photog peers so I am now playing catch up.  Today I had coffee with a couple of friends over in Poughkeepsie so I thought I would swing down by the Hudson River to check out the ice. Just happened to have my camera in the car ;)

Project 52…

What is “Project 52?”  Last April, I met a wonderful group of gals in Atlanta.  We have continued a great relationship after our workshop and talk on a daily basis.  We are always looking for ways to challenge ourselves and keep our photography fresh.  One girl introduced us to a great way to step out side the box, Project 52.  I new, non work related, photo project a week, for 52 weeks.  Many of you may have heard of  Project 365, where you publish a photo for 365 days of the year, but lets be realistic here, with 2 kids, that is pushing it LOL!  So Project 52 is a bit more of my speed.

For my first photo, I played with my new iPhone and my favorite Brayden.  In natural light, the iPhone can take a really good picture.  In fact, there is a photog out there who published a book on pictures he took just with his iPhone. The challenge her was getting my 4 year old to hold my iPhone right where I wanted him too. It didn’t happen, he moved every time :)

Check back every week for a new photo.
