Photo Feature…

A couple weeks back I photographed a wedding at The Club House at Patriot Hills.  A couple weeks after posting a sneak peek on my blog, one of their representatives gave me a ring and asked if they could use a couple of my photos on their new site.  Uh, YEAH!!!!   Just checked out their site and there it is:

Here’s to one of hopefully many!!

Trash The Dress, Part 2…

Two brides+two looks= a lot of photos.  I had to split up the blog post due to the huge amount of photos I took, and the fact that I had some much fun going through them all.   My 2nd bride was so sweet and just a blast to work with.  She actually came in on top with the most votes on my blog.  I didn’t realize this until after the fact, but she drove up from Hartford, CT to come be apart of this shoot.  She heard about the contest from Best Hudson Valley Weddings Ever, but I have also photographed her nephew in the past.

Behind the scene stories:  When out shooting with two brides, we got a lot of attention.  Many of the people driving by thought they actually married each other.   Out on the beach,  we again gained much attention from the locals hanging in the sand.  Many of them were nice enough to point out that she was going to get her dress dirty in the sand.  Yeah, we know that.  Kind of the point :)   You can image the looks on their faces when they see her dip down, full dress into the water.  After a long day in the sun, it felt good but did add about 20 lbs to the dress.  Thanks again Laura, you rocked it!!

Trash The Dress, Part 1…

So this was the big weekend in which we “Trashed The Dress.”  I can’t tell you how much fun this was.  Things moved so smoothly and some of the things that happened while shooting, only made the day even better.  I worked with a GREAT GREAT team this weekend and I can’t thank them enough for the time and energy they put into the day.  Because there were 2 brides and there were so many great pictures from the day, I have to split the blog post up over the next couple days.  Today we will start with our avant garde bride.  Being that she is no longer married, she was will to do “whatever”  to her dress.  Scissors and paint did come out.  At the last minute, a husband and wife team from I DO MOVIES came and filmed this bride during our shoot.  You must check out their work, you might see a couple familiar/famous faces on their site.  I can’t wait to see what they come up with!

The Details

Hair:  Sarah Schappach

Make-Up: Karen Schrowang

Accessories: Tracy Williams

Videography: I DO MOVIES

Extras

Ice Cream Truck:   Mr. Ding-A-Ling Ice Cream Truck

The Hot Red Car:  Fred Burger “Trailers”

While shooting, this hot red car just happened to drive by. I was across the street but yelled to stop that car.  Who wouldn’t stop to a bride running down the street chasing you!  The owner, Fred Burger, was kind enough to let us enjoy  his car for a little while.  What a prop!!

When I heard the ice cream truck, my pregnant belly though, “ICE CREAM, YUMMY!”  The 2nd thing that came to my mind was this too would make a fantastic background for a couple of photos.  Lucky for me, I had a couple of bucks in my pocket.

Hello rockin’ hair!!!!

Margaret & Scott, The Clubhouse at Patriot Hills Golf Club…

I am a little behind on posting this blog post from this fantastic wedding I shot last Saturday.  After I downloaded all the cards, holy photos!!!  It took me some time to weed through them all pick some of my favorites and I am not sure I included them all.

I originally met Margaret and Scoot last summer at one of my favorite places, Starbucks, to discuss their wedding details.  They were referred to me by one of my favorite little clients. The groom is the uncle of a little man that I have been photographing since he was in the womb.  I thought they were a fun and loving couple and we just clicked.  I really got to know them during their engagement session, which included a lot of laughing and some goofing off.

Here we are, almost a year later, on their wedding day and I truly felt as though I was watching my friends get married.  I was even lucky enough to be the first one to give them a hug after they walked back down the isle as husband and wife. The whole wedding itself was a wonderful event, the kind of wedding I would have loved to been a guest at.  A plethora of food, a dessert bar, a beautiful location, a photo booth,  and a DJ who really got the party going. Speaking of dessert bar, I might have to start including it in my contract that if there is chocolate cake stuffed with peanut butter served, I get a piece.

Weddings are always a long day, especially when 8 months pregnant, but it is always worth it in the long run.  You know you have done good when the bride and groom hug you before you leave the the sister of the groom sends you a wonderful email the next day.  I have official become the “family photographer,”  I love the sound of that!

The Details:

The Church: Blessed Kateri

The Flowers: Rood’s Florist and Greenhouse

Bride’s Hair/Makeup: Entirely You Salon and Spa

Bride’s Dress: Fontana Bridal

The DJ:  Sound Choice Entertainment

Photobooth: Click-ClickFoto.com

Reception Location: The Club House of Patriot Hills

Invitations:  Icing On The Cake

One of our stops for pictures included Bear Mountain State Park.  Although it was closed, the workers were great and actually opened up the Carousel for us for photos.  Don’t worry, no bridesmaid was injured while shooting.

Some of the wedding details including the rings, invitation, flowers, venue, cigar bar and the flush mount signature album from our engagement session.

First dance, photobooth fun and a garter blunder.  When firing the the garter off to the boys, the groom shot it straight up and straight onto a ledge. It took several attempts by guests, a ladder, and the DJ to get it down.

Congratulations Margaret and Scott!!!
