A couple of years ago, I did a meet up with bunch of photog friends from across the country, at Kristen Kalps studio in Philadelphia, PA. There I got my first peek at Kylene Cleaver working her boudoir magic. Over the past 2 years I watched her, through the wonderful world of the internet, expand and grow to be one of the best boudoir photographers I have ever seen. Her stuff is is classy, tasteful and just simply beautiful. On a recent blog post she mentioned she was now offering “Mentoring.” Ummmm, all over that!! I am the type of person, if I am going to learn, I am going to learn from the best and that she is.
So this past weekend I hoped in the car and took a one day trip to Philly. Lucky for me, I had a mentoring session to me, myself and I. We had some beautiful and brave models, who dealt with some frigid weather conditions. The black winged angel was a true trooper, being outside in her undies, in 35 degree weather and a wind chill that made it feel like 10. Art is painful sometimes.
I am so excited to be offering boudoir as apart of the Surprise Photography experience. More details to come!

I always talk about how much I love my clients, especially when they spread the love and refer me to friends and family. I can’t thank them enough for it. Lauren and Scott were one of those fabulous couples referred to me, by some of my favorite clients, to photograph their August wedding. This past weekend we met up for the first time in Brooklyn for their engagement shoot. They sent me an email to meet them at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, ice cream…yay!! Yes, I know it is still a bit chilly for ice cream but never for me. I couldn’t have asked for a better day, better location, a bluer sky, or a better couple to work with. Oh, I can’t forget the red door, you know me and doors. I SPY them from a mile away.
The next stop of our tour is in New Jersey, were they will be getting married. I don’t want to rush time, but I really look forward to seeing them again this summer. BTW, I never went back for my ice cream. I did however spend 90 minutes in line for a Grimaldi’s Pizza.

I am so excited to be featured once again on the Best Hudson Valley Weddings Ever website. I loved this wedding, I loved the bride and groom, I loved the whole day. Thank you BHVWE! Check out the whole blog post HERE.

Digging through my three different hard drives, I 1) can’t believe how fast this year went by and 2) feel so luck to have had such a wonderful year. Each year seems to get bigger and better, I hope this never ends. I am so lucky to have had such a wonderful group of clients to work with this year and thankful they you all spread the word about Surprise Photography. I would love to share some of my favorite images from this past year, so if you have a couple moments, grab your beverage and a small snack and enjoy the show:
A couple months back I had gotten an email from Jennifer regarding photographing her wedding. She is currently a student in Atlanta but is getting married back here in the Hudson Valley. She is a graduate of Marist, and Angus was a student at the CIA. On their visit home for Thanksgiving, we met up in Rhinebeck for their engagement photos. She wanted a blend of urban and country. I couldn’t think of a better place. With us was their baby, Rudy. He is one good puppy and not spoiled one bit (wink wink). Yes, Rudy has his own Facebook page, as he should since he is one cool dog.
I am looking forward to photographing Jenn and Angus’s wedding next year and of course seeing Rudy again. I will have to get some heals for this event, the groom has a good foot on me.
