Farmer Boy, Ulster County Newborn Photographer…

Two months ago I had the pleasure of working with this family when we did momma’s maternity photos on their farm.  Then just days after Christmas,  their baby boy was welcomed into the world.  Normally I photograph newborns within the first 12 days of life, but unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control, we were not able to meet.  But this week I finally got to head back to the farm and hang out with this sweet little baby and his sister.   Big sister was a lovely little hostess and took great care of both her baby brother and baby doll.

Love Me A Redhead, Hudson Valley Children Photographer…

How can you not adore a redhead.  Mommy came to me when this little sweetie was first born to do her newborn photos, but unfortunately I was about to give birth any minute to Clinton so I had to turn her down.   Lucky for me, rather than go to someone else, she waited.  What an honor!

I loved how simple we kept the clothing, but at the same time,  the colors made such a bold statement.  I often go through closets and drawers at clients homes, not to be nosy, but to help in the clothing selection process.  When I saw this shirt, I thought it was the sweetest thing and so different. Nothing you would find on a mall shopping rack.  Pair that shirt with a  cloth diaper and red hair, we got ourselves an outfit.   After the shoot I heard back from mommy, turns out that shirt belonged to her back in the day.  How sweet and sentimental is that!

Hello Old Friend, Hudson Valley Family Photographer…

Over the holiday vacation I got to meet with two families from out of state, one from Florida and another from Tennessee. Although I consider each one of my sessions special, my visitors from Tennessee were extra special. Richard and Caroline are old friends from back in the college days. Richard and my husband were in the same fraternity and we even attended each others wedding. Since graduating, we moved to New York and they settled in  Tennessee.  This was the first time we got the pleasure to meet their kids. And what great kids they are. The oldest is just a clone of his daddy and the youngest has eyelashes that any woman would pay good money for.

I had a wonderful afternoon with them at the Bank Square Coffee House in Beacon and can’t thank them enough for including a visit with me during their holiday visit home.

Birthday Girl, Hudson Valley Child Photographer…

I was beginning to think that this session was cursed. I am never sick and this year when I got it, I got it good.  I had to cancel my first session with this birthday girl when after a week of a high temperature, I came down with a not so nice ear infection.  I would rather have the flu than an ear infection.   Then on the eve of the reschedule date, I was kissing my son goodnight on his top bunk and on the way down, I rolled my ankle.  I was convinced I twisted it.   The next morning I could barely walk down the stairs, I was in that much pain. Walking on flat ground was better, and knowing that it  was this little sweeties first birthday photos, putting it off again wasn’t an option. I knew I could rock on through it, as long as she wasn’t on the run.  Lucky for me she wasn’t that mobile.  My first major in college was “Athletic Training,” and the first thing we learned was R.I.C.E:  Rest, Ice, Compress and Elevate, which is what I did when I got home.   Turns out taping football player ankles wasn’t for me and I switched majors :)

Well, this birthday girl did great considering the cooler weather and the fresh dose of snow. Interesting fact about our location, this small church, St Peter’s Episcopal Church in Millbrook, was the location of Natasha Richardson’s funeral.  A small but stunning Church.
