Military Momma, West Point Maternity Photographer…

Recently I visited West Point to hang with a momma to be and her daughter for a big surprise for Daddy.  Right now, Daddy is overseas defending our country and his return is eagerly awaited back at home in the states. Momma is expecting baby girl number two and wanted to show off how great she looks and how fast “Cindy Lou Who” is growing.

There is nothing like an afternoon at West Point.  I have been there many of times, and I never get over the beauty of the grounds, the history, and the slightly intimidating presence of the military personnel there.  It’s like a small city all within the walls.  Being that the hospital is right on site, momma could walk there if she wanted.  Thanks again for  a lovely morning and I hope this was a great surprise for Daddy!

I love her sassy side

West Point, Orange County Family Photographer…

Last week I had the privilege of not only meeting this very smart little boy and his parents, but visiting  the West Point Campus as well.  I shot here a month ago with a wedding, but I really didn’t get to take the time to really take it all in. When you come on to the grounds, it is an intimating experience.  There are guards at the gates and they check your car.  When you pull onto the campus, you can see big barriers that come out of the ground to block anyone from getting in or getting out.  Not sure I want to be around when that happens.  The buildings  are all this beautiful but cold gray stone. On the train going down to the city last week, a gentleman sitting next to me mentioned it looked like a prison.  When I mentioned this to my client, she laughed and said, “some of the cadets may agree.”  But when walking around, you also get this sense of peace.  We walked down by the reservoir and with the beauty around it, you forget where you are.

Back to “B” man.  I really enjoyed my time with this little man.  He is a year older than my son Brayden and so much like him.  They both seem to have this fascination for wildlife.  While hanging around the canons, saw this hawk flying above us. After some time on the hunt, he finally rested in a tree close by.  Later the hawk attacked his prey and just feasted on it in front of us.  “B” man was so amazed, and I have to admit I  kind of was too.  Only on TV have I seen such a thing so close to me.  Of course I went home and told Brayden all about it.    I had a lovely fall afternoon at West Point.  Thank you for inviting me down to spend the day with your family. And thank you “B” man for all the great stories.
